The day after (2.24.11) Suze Rotolo, Bob Dylan’s girlfriend in the early-Sixties, and the muse behind this song (Tomorrow Is a Long Time) passed away after a long illness. She was 67.

2011/02/09The Day the Music Died
2011/02/03On February 3, 1959, a small-plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa, killed three American rock and roll musicians: Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson, as well as the pilot, Roger Peterson.[1] The day was later called The Day the Music Died by Don McLean, in his song “American Pie“.[2][3]
This article is about the plane crash. For other uses, see The Day the Music Died (disambiguation).
The first shot that went through JFK’s throat was not fatal. But it should have knocked him into Jackie’s arms, thus protecting him from the kill shot. But JFK was propped up by his prosthetic back brace. He was a sitting duck for the final shot (Frame 313 in the Zapruder film):
During JFK’s Presidency, the CIA, FBI, LBJ, DOD, nearly all of his supporting devices, were at least guilty of leaving him exposed, if not executing him. That becomes painfully clear if you look with fresh eyes at the evidence. So the question then becomes why was he a goner? The answer is: complex…how threatening non-violence is to our military industrial complex.
Today most people think Oswald didn’t act alone, but they really don’t dig any further to understand the implications of living in a country that assassinates it’s own President because he showed a commitment to peace.
Consider the Cuban Missle Crisis, when there were actual WMD’s pointed right at US. Listen to JFK’s taped phone calls and the voices, Democrat and Republican demanding he be more aggressive. But JFK would never trust those voices again after the Bay of Pigs. Kruschev was getting the same pressures from his people. There were people who wanted a Cold War Bad. And the wealthiest families in the world were terrified of Communism.
I think I do finally get the false paradigm. There was a military coup in 1963 and that same regime is in power today, giving us the illusion of a democracy. Every President has the freedom to move the ball a few yards to the left or right, but they all know what to do when you get in the red zone. When Obama was on board with bailing out the banks, he could finally be trusted by that unspeakable force that runs this country, that bends us to war at every turn by making sure even the poorest Americans can get just enough credit to buy TV’s and phones to occupy and brainwash, just like America’s imperialist foreign policy: Occupy and Brainwash. Americans are violent people. But people are violent people. There is something violent in all of us passed down from the dawn of man to survive. But if there is any point to life on earth, it is to turn away from this instinct and towards our powerful instinct to love. JFK was able to make this remarkable turn at a time of real danger. You don’t have to be a saint to be a martyr. Tu Vuo’fa L’americano “So you want to be an American?”
Why did the man throw the clock out the window?

What America does better than anyone else is spark the creativity and imagination of our people…in Robert’s words: “we reinvented ourselves” that’s what Americans have done for over 200 years…reinvented ourselves.
Some people can’t read between the lines: my solution is non-violence.
Thirdgen83: Fuck you Matt4n, you fucking Obama-lover. YOU are a piece of shit and people like you are everything that is wrong with America today…
Is someone twisting a knife in your back,
Are you being attacked,
Oh, this is a fact,
That you need to know,
Wilco will love you Baby.
Are times getting tough,
Are the roads you travel rough,
Have you had enough of the old,
Tired of being exposed to the cold,
Put on your headphones,
Before you explode
Wilco will love you baby.
Just replace “American Gladiators” with “NFL” and Bill Hicks’s rings even truer today.
I found the same patterns in all 4 of those assassinations, but especially in us, and our collective reality, the way we see things in this country, and I began to realize there is extraordinary denial when it comes to recognizing systemic evil right here in our system. It allow us to see what’s happening today in a way that is more profound than anything it’s the key to seeing 1984 in action in 2000.

2011/01/19I was walking home from CVS and that line about cat food and advil, popped in my head. It’s a good example of two words that don’t rhyme that you can kind of make rhyme. I heard someone say S.O.S.D.D. for the first time on New Year’s Eve and knew I’d eventually put it into song and a couple weeks ago I wrote a text to friend ”I traded my Godin (a brand of guitar) for something else (a takamine that you see now) ” iphone corrected “Godin” to “God in” ….that’s what Paul McCartney means when he said his antenna was always up. And that’s how my songs usually come together: I get the initial idea (advil and cat food), and then pull together scraps of things that are lying around that somehow make sense (to me) juxtaposed next to the initial idea. I think S.O.S.D.D. is about my writing process and overcoming that voice in my head that says ”This isnt a song.”
What no one in the wrong seems to grasp about the health care debate is the system doesn’t even work for people who have insurance. I was one of those fortunate enough to have it through my company, and was approved for a medically necessary surgery a year before by United Health Care. Unfortunately UHC changed their mind a week before the surgery and decided the surgery was not medically necessary. Perhaps it was because my company had just announced that they would be moving their employees’ insurance to competitor Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield next year? Subsequently, both of my appeals were denied. As philosopher Jeff Tweedy said, after getting dropped from his record label right after delivering Yankee Hotel Foxtrot: “Holy Shit there’s a company in my back!”
After taking a week off to “mourn” a politically motivated assassination attempt of a member of his house, John Boehner returned to work to get health care back to the way it was. Not trying to keep guns out of the hands of lunatics, mind you, but trying to undo someone else’s attempt at solving one of the most glaring problems in the US. As philosopher Walter Sobchak said “We’re talking about unchecked aggression here, dude.” Consider the issues of Gun Control and Health Care in the US compared to the rest of the modern world. It is political suicide (and maybe even actual suicide) for even a democrat to attempt to tighten gun control…because almost half of America has a gun in their house. Over 9,000 people die because of guns every year…compared to under 200 in Canada, the UK, and Australia, who have serious gun control. These countries also have universal health care, that their citizens may complain about, but as one of my friends from England living in US says “they have no idea how bad it is here.” It’s that same uncompassionate streak that makes us invade countries we have no business being in, that feeling that we’re only responsible for taking care of our families, and not our fellow man, for repealing a legislation towards what every “western” country now has, just as Gabrielle Giffords opens her eyes.
