Matt Foran saw this in a 1/4 full theater in Times Square, and it got a standing ovation, deservedly so. It manages to overcome Jack White’s ridiculous aesthetic (does he sleep in a top hat and bowtie?) There are times when he is acting to stay in this whole persona he’s crafted. For example, you hear him say in the trailer “The three of us get together, what’s gonna happen? Probably a fist fight.” No it’s not Jack. Edge and Jimmy Page are really sweet gentle guys and they’ve never had that reputation. Just act naturally for Christ’s sake. Charlie Kauffman should literally sue Sophie Barthes who wrote and directed this. But the only thing worse than being stolen from is having to steal: Paul Giamatti playing himself, gets his soul removed, so he can play a role he’s having difficulty with. He decides that he wants his soul back but it has been trafficked to Russia and bought by a lady who wants to be an actress. It is a blatant rip off of Being John Malkovich crossed with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
